Expo Report: Midlands MCM Expo Sept 08

It took me 3 days to make my Kairi cosplay which i think turned out great ^^ I didn't get my keyblade finished on time but I WILL get it done.....one day............soon.............i hope.

The day before the expo Amaikoibito 's mum drove me and her up to Longton to stay over her sister's house so that on the day of the expo we can get there on time ^^.

On the morning of the expo me (cosplaying Kairi) and Amaikoibito (cosplaying Riku)  took the train to Telford, and when we got there we didn't really know where we were going so we thought 'Let's follow the other cosplayers, they look like they know where they're going....'

As we walked on through Telford shopping centre more and more people started following us, after walking about 5~10mins we thought we should asked the people in front of us "do you know where we're going?" they replied "no.... we're following those people in frount of us." by which point the said people went up to the information desk and asked where the Telford International Centre is

After about what felt like another few hours (which is probably only 30mins) of confusion and going the wrong way we FINALLY arrived at the Expo.

The line actually wasn't very long so it only took about 2mins for us to get the tickets and go in. After a round of all the stalls, and lots of free posters Amaikoibito accompanied me to sign up for the cosplay masqrade. Where we saw...

While I was signing up, Amaikoibito went outside to pick up the other two people of our group opheliashigurehatake who came all the way from Wales cosplaying Sora and singham-wilk who was cosplaying Link. This is the scene i came upon when i turned around from the cosplay desk:

And looks like Link found Zelda# ^^


Then it's time for another round of the stalls ^^ where we found:

'OMG! Sweeny Todd#'
"come for a shave?"
"um....no......."

We were too scared to ask people for photos so we made Link poke them with his sword (that sounded SO wrong.....)

Our first victim Muahahaha......

They were nice enough to pose for a photo afterwards

Next we saw Tomoko-Tottori as Sasuke

*cough*emos*cough*

Then we came across:

Timcanpy#!! who looks slightly scared of Link and his sword

Oh no Link spotted his next victim....


But Vivi fights back!!

this time it's with Sephiroth#, i hope that he can get out of this one alive.....

By this point we all decided that it's too hot inside and we needed some air, also it's gettng close to the 1:00pm Kingdom Hearts gathering outside the main entrance to the expo, so we all trooped outside for some rest.

Come 1 o'clock the other KH cosplayers have gathered and oh dear....did anyone notice how all the 'sanity' just flew out of the window?

It all started fairly normal, we cought a photo of L (cosplayed by the awsome Hitokage-Camera )

What's with everyone trying to kill Kairi?, i know she's a bit useless, but that doesn't excuse this kind of behaviour...... and is that a light saber in Reno's hand?


What is this? Is Cloud bullying Link again?


da de de dum ...... Kairi to the rescue, with Sora's key blade.....?!


"we'll come help" says little Roxas (cosplayed by the ever so cute groovydea )


"oh no, it looks like Kairi is winning "


Lara Croft comes out of nowhere and shoots everybody dead....

As Clound lays dying Riku steals Cloud's sword and does smexy poses with it.....


Oh no Riku is dead...... ("ummm...how did that happen?...")

Midori (cosplayed by NozMcGoo ): "hmmm......WHAT is going on under Vincent#'s coat?"

"oh no! not again..." (Saix cosplayed by Silzer)

Reno stole Sora's keyblade....

Riku: "I'll get him from the back! you go grab the key blade"

...and we're all back to normal with no recollection of what had gone on while our 'sanities' were on holiday.

It's nearly 2:30pm and the cosplay masquerade was about to start so we all went back into the expo.

I don't have many pictures of the masqurade becuase the lighting was very bad and my little camera could only do so much.

It's a great turn out though, see if you can recognise anyone from the crowd...


congrats!! to Mimi-Cake who won the juniors' catagory cosplaying Chihiro from spirited away.


After the masquerade we bumped into Raye Hino/Sailor Mars (cosplayed by the great and wonderful www.cosplay.com/member/113008/ )


and The-Soranator cosplaying Nyu/Lucy from Elfen Lied:


The midlands expo overall in comparasion to the london expo has a much calmer atmosphere, none of the 'OMG! I cannot breath through all these people!'thing. Also I'm happy that I met so many nice people ^^
